Pacaya-Samiria Amazon Lodge located a 120 km from the Iquitos City is one of
the most exclusive lodges in the Peruvian Amazon and a heaven for visitors
in search of a quiet retreat. From this unique place, our guests can visit
the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, which is the largest protected natural
area in Peru. There, visitors will also have the chance to observe exotic
pink dolphin of the Amazon at their natural habitat. Activities also include
visits to the local communities, hikes in primary rainforest, observation of
flora and fauna, birdwatching, canoe rides, fishing and many more. Also, the
visit to the confluence of the Marañon and Ucayali rivers where the Amazonas
River is born.
DÍA I: IQUITOS / LODGE
We start our adventure of the Peruvian forest at the Iquitos City Airport,
from there we will transport in a modern and comfortable air-conditioned
minivan traveling on a nice highway to the town of Nauta.
Nauta was the first township founded by the Spanish at the Maranon River’s
bank. The trip takes approximately 1.30 hours, a 97 km journey. In Nauta we
will take boats, which belong to the lodge, to visit the Ucayali and Maranon
River, where the Amazon River is born, from here we have a spectacular sight
of the forest because of the 100 foot high watching tower, next we will go
on with our trip to the lodge for lunch and accommodation. In the afternoon,
we will go on a hike through the rainforests that surround the lodge, to
appreciate rainforest flora and fauna; depending on the weather conditions,
we are able to observe a beautiful sunset.
Dependant on night time climate conditions, we will make an excursion by
boat to observe night animals and insects; also enjoyable is hearing the
various sounds that come from the forest, later we will be back to the lodge
for dinner and resting.
DAY 2: PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE / LODGE
At dawn, we will make a small hike through the forest around the lodge,
searching for birds to observe, followed by breakfast back at the lodge.
Immediately after, we will go to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve where
we register our entry and then continue out journey into the reserve.
In our visit to the reserve we will make a special excursion to observe the
"gray" and "pink dolphin" down the Yanayacu River, in addition we will be in
contact with the vast variety of flora and fauna that the reserve offers.
Something that immediately catches our attention is the black waters of the
rivers, which reflects with such an identical image, the sky, the clouds,
the bank’s vegetation, the huge trees, that the tourists have the sensation
of traveling between mirrors; this is why the Pacaya Samiria National
Reserve is known as the “jungle of the mirrors”.
At noon we will stop to have our box lunch.
We will visit Japon and Plantano lakes (cochas), with a great variety of
palms, large trees and a beautiful landscape. At this place, we can make a
variety of activities, dependant on the tourist, such as canoe rides,
piranha fishing, and identification of plants, bird watching or maybe just
relaxing with a nice cool swim in one of the lakes.
At the end of the day, we will back to the lodge for dinner and resting.
DAY 3: NAUTA CREEK /IQUITOS
We will go on with our bird watching session very early this morning
followed by breakfast at the lodge.Immediately after, we make an excursion
by boat around the Nauta Creek and the closest lakes, where we observe flora
and fauna (monkeys, sloths and wide variety of aquatic birds) and other; we
will stop for a while to enjoy our box lunch under the shadow of the
surrounding jungle trees.Later, during our excursion to the primary forest,
the guide will identify medicinal plants and trees of special interest.
Finally we go back to the lodge for dinner and resting.DAY 4:
RIVERBANK VILLAGE / IQUITOS
After breakfast we will visit a riverbank village to observe the lifestyle
of the natives as well as their daily activities such as hunting, gathering,
fishing or agriculture, we can also collaborate with the community
development buying typical souvenirs hand made by the natives, made of seeds
and vegetable ivory called tagua.
Immediately after, we will go out to the Iquitos City Airport ready to
aboard our flight to come back to Lima City.

Machu Picchu and my entire visit to Peru were
wonderful. A dream come true.
I could not have been happier with everyone I met through your
arrangements.
The tours were very informative and showed me more than I knew
existed in this beautiful place.
All of the accommodations were very comfortable.
The luncheon buffet at the Alhambra was top rate. And the Ferré
Hotel in Lima was also a very good choice.Your personal assistance
throughout was exceptional!
Thank you for everything!

I was one of
the “Joel Williams” party of four who was recently on a Peru Gateway
Travel tour of northern and southern Peru. I had to write so you
would know how satisfied we were with the hotel accommodations, the
tour guides, the restaurants they choose for our lunches and just
everything about the trip.
The hotels we stayed in were well located, clean and convenient in
every way. We have absolutely no complaints!
Our tour covered Peru from the north to the south. It had four
internal flights, so there were many connections, pick ups and
deliveries involved. Peru Gateway Travel made sure we were always
delivered on time to the airports and promptly met and picked up
when we landed. We never had a moments worry.
Since we had many different day tours, we had several different
guides. All were professional and spoke our language well. All were
very knowledgeable and eager to impart that knowledge to us. They
chose great places for our lunches and the cuisine was
unforgettable. We have traveled to many countries but found the food
in Peru to be absolutely wonderful.
I also wanted to mention the drivers who picked us up at all times
of the day and night, drove us to our next destination and the
delivered us safely to our hotels. We never had a driver who was
less than prompt, courteous and most importantly, a skilled and
careful driver.
The sites we saw were the places we chose to see. And they did not
disappoint us. From the desert to the Andes to the Jungle, we
enjoyed it all.
Please feel free to use this email on your website or as a
testimonial. All four of our group would recommend Peru Gateway
Travel to anyone planning a trip to Peru. We were well taken care
of, enjoyed delicious food, saw awesome sights and had a wonderful
time.
Sincerely.

I am now back
home but still not believed that the holiday is over. I just
write you to tell you that I had a wonderful time in Peru and to
thanks for
your support. The circuit was very well designed and I had the
opportunity
to visit all the important sites I envisaged and also the Sacred
Valley and
the Altiplano.
I was really impressed by the organization and your people, always
in time
for pick up and interested to offer the necessary information.
Finally I showed to my friends that Peru is not so far and a visit
there
could be a wonderful experience. For me was a dream come true.
Many thanks to you and to your team.

My 2 adult children and I recently returned from our
hike to Machu Picchu and I wanted to thank you for all your
assistance. Our trip was great. We very much enjoyed visiting your
beautiful country. I especially want to praise our guide, cook and
porters. They did a terrific job. The food was marvelous and after a
long hike it was definitely something to look forward to. The
porters were very kind and when I needed some assistance at the end
of the 3rd day one of the porters helped me a lot. Our guide was
great. He was very knowledgeable and fun to hike with and he seemed
to really love his job. Again, thanks so much for everything
